My 3-Day Amsterdam Itinerary

Are you planning a trip to Amsterdam?

I’ve put together my entire three-day itinerary for you to take some inspiration for your own Amsterdam travels!

Moco Museum, Amsterdam (May 2024)

Day One

➝🏨 Check into our hotel at ibis Amsterdam Centre.

We stayed at this hotel because of its extremely central location. It’s literally right next door to Centraal Station, which is how we got from Paris to Amsterdam, and then from Amsterdam to the airport. And it’s a quick walk across the bridge to the core of the city.

➝ 🥞 Brunch at Pancakes Amsterdam.

If you love a Dutch pancake, you absolutely have to go to Pancakes at least once.

➝ 💎 Explore the Moco Museum.

The Moco Museum is my favourite contemporary museum I’ve ever seen. The exhibits are packed into a classic, old home which gives it so much personality. Totally worth a visit.

➝ 🖼 Visit the Van Gogh Museum.

If you’re looking for the museum experience in Amsterdam, you should probably add the Van Gogh Museum to your list. It’s a must-visit for any lover of Van Gogh’s work.

➝ 🍻 Dinner and drinks at Cannibale Royale.

Cannibale Royale is a very cool spot serving up smokey meats and incredible cocktails. With old school pub vibes on point, we ordered the platter for two so we could try a little bit of everything!

Strolls through Amsterdam (May 2024)

Day Two

➝ 🚨 Wander the Red Light District.

When in Amsterdam, you have to go for a walk through the Red Light District. And you don’t have to wait until the sun goes down (although it does add to the environment).

➝ 🌸 Explore Jordaan.

If you’re looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, Jordaan is a great little neighbourhood to wander – pop into some cute thrift shops, stop by a local cafe, enjoy the city the way a local might.

➝ 🍷 Have a cocktail at Tales and Spirits.

Tales & Spirits is a very cool cocktail bar, and the vibes are warm, cozy, and on point. And the cocktails were incredibly delicious. I can’t recommend it enough.

➝ 🍬Pick up a stroopwafel at Van Wonderen Stroopwafels.

You’re going to want to try a stroopwafel in Amsterdam, and Van Wonderen is The Place. Its iconic stroopwafels are crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside, and they come in so many fun flavours.

Hortus Botanicus garden (May 2024)

Day Three

➝ 🌷 Walk around the canals.

You have to spend at least a couple hours just wandering the city. Walk the canals, get lost in the winding streets. It’s absolutely beautiful.

➝ 🌿 Explore the beautiful Hortus Botanicus garden.

Our friend who has family in the Netherlands recommended adding this botanical garden to our itinerary, and now I’m recommending it to you. Between the greenhouses and the butterfly house, it’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

➝ 🥘 Enjoy a dinner at Grand Café Restaurant 1e Klas.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that lives inside of Centraal Station. The food is incredible, the setting is lovely. And the restaurant is home to a very cute and talkative cockatoo!

We really enjoyed filling our days with a mix of must-visit destinations, spontaneous decisions, and low key wandering.

Hopefully something on this itinerary sparks your inspiration!
