6 Destinations for the Great Outdoors
There’s a common misconception that "nature travel" has to mean intense backcountry camping or adrenaline-pumping summits. As someone who loves a quiet trail and a well-marked path, I’ve found that some of the most breathtaking landscapes are the ones that invite you to simply sit, observe, and breathe.
If your soul needs a hit of fresh air, these are the six destinations from my travels that I recommend for a true nature reset.
1. Banff & Jasper, AB
The Canadian Rockies are a traveller’s dream. The specific, almost unreal turquoise of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake is something you have to see in person to believe.
Whether you’re driving the Icefields Parkway or taking a quiet walk around Maligne Lake in Jasper, the scale of these mountains is incredibly grounding.

2. Sedona, AZ
Sedona is all about the light. The way the iron-rich sandstone glows at "golden hour" is absolutely stunning.
It’s a place built for quiet hiking, grabbing a prickly pear ice cream, and finding a spot to just sit and look at the horizon.

3. Reykjavik, Iceland
Driving the Golden Circle first thing in an autumn morning is one of those "core memory" experiences.
Iceland feels like a different planet: moss-covered lava fields, crashing waterfalls, and black sand beaches. It’s nature in its most dramatic form.
Watching the steam rise off geothermal waters against the crisp, cool Icelandic air is the ultimate sensory reset.

4. Grand Canyon, AZ
Nothing puts life into perspective quite like standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon. While the South Rim can be a busy hike, there are plenty of quiet lookout points where you can simply sit and watch the shadows move across the canyon floor.
Walk along the Rim Trail for a mostly flat, incredibly accessible hike. You’ll want to stop every few minutes for what looks like a completely new view of the landscape.

5. Whistler, BC
While it’s famous for skiing, Whistler in the "off-season" is a sanctuary for nature lovers. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola offers a bird’s-eye view of the coastal forest and the jagged peaks that is absolutely breathtaking.
Head to the Lost Lake trails: it’s a peaceful escape just minutes from the village where you can walk through the towering evergreens.

6. Yosemite, CA
Yosemite is iconic for a reason. Standing in the valley looking up at the mountains makes you feel small in the best way possible. The meadows are perfect for a lowkey stroll, offering plenty of spots to tuck away and enjoy the views.
Definitely check out Lower Yosemite Falls. The sound of the water and the mist on your face is the perfect way to clear your mind.

Nature has a way of stripping away the "noise" of daily life. For anxious travellers like me, these wide-open spaces offer a sense of freedom that crowded cities sometimes can’t.
You don’t have to be a professional hiker to appreciate a world-class view.
