Honeymoon: Amsterdam, Day Three
Botanical Garden and Grand Centraal Restaurant
Waking up on the last day of our honeymoon felt so sad. We’d been married during the pandemic, and the honeymoon was something we continued to look forward to for so long. And now it would be over.
But we still had one full day in Amsterdam together, and the weather continued to hold out for us. So we grabbed some brunch and then decided to go for a long walk along the canals.
Hotus Botanicus Garden (May 2024)
Our walk ended at the Hortus Botanicus, a beautiful botanical garden right in the city. We took a break and grabbed a cold drink at the garden’s cafe before continuing to explore. I’m glad we took a break for a moment to sit and recharge, so I could fully enjoy the botanical garden and everything it had to offer.
It’s absolutely stunning.
Between the flowers and gorgeous greenhouses and the butterfly house, I couldn’t get enough. It was an added stop on our trip that was recommended to us, that I’m really happy we took the time to visit.
Dinner the Grand Café Restaurant 1e Klas (May 2024)
The rest of the day we just wandered and enjoyed each other’s company. Then it was time to go back to the hotel and get changed for our final dinner of our honeymoon.
I was so excited to spend our last evening together at the Grand Café Restaurant 1e Klas restaurant that is actually in Grand Centraal Station. I’d eaten here the first time I was in Amsterdam, but I was with a large travel group so we were given a set menu.
This time, I was looking forward to ordering what I wanted.
Brandon and I had such a nice dinner with incredible food (the duck was on point), in a lovely setting. And the restaurant is home to a very cute and talkative cockatoo! We love animals, so we got a kick out of seeing the bird enjoying the busy restaurant.
One last look at the canals… (May 2024)
Overall, the last day of our honeymoon was a beautiful way to wrap up the trip. Of course I was sad that it was over, but I look back on our time in Europe with such fond memories.
Until next time…
